What is Homeopathy?
Homeopathy is a holistic form of treatment which appreciates the individuality of all patients by taking into account their mental, emotional and physical symptoms. The main goal is to find the root cause of disease and cure the patient in the quickest and gentlest way possible by making use of homeopathic remedies, supplements and dietary and lifestyle changes.

What can Homeopathy be used for?
There is literally no limit to what homeopathy can be used to treat. Homeopathic remedies have the ability to treat anything from a cold and bronchitis to autoimmune diseases, psychological conditions and musculoskeletal disorders.

Is Homeopathy Safe?
Homeopathy is completely safe and can even be used in pregnancy! Homeopathic remedies alone do not have any side-effects and are incredibly easy to use. As homeopaths undergo both diagnostic and pharmaceutical training, they have the knowledge of various herbal and conventional drug interactions. This allows for the perfect and safest treatment protocol to be created for you.

Is Homeopathy Covered by Medical aid?
Homeopathy is a recognised medical profession in South Africa. Because of this, medical aids do cover homeopathic consults and medications. This is done through a claim-back approach where you can submit your homeopathic fees to your medical aid and they reimburse you. All fees are within medical aid rates.

How are Homeopaths Trained and What can They do?
Homeopaths complete a 6-year Master’s degree in Technology through the University of Johannesburg or Durban University of Technology. The Course includes chemistry, Anatomy and Physiology, Diagnostics, Materia Medica and Pharmacology. Homeopaths also have to complete one year of clinical training and complete a mini- dissertation before qualifying. Because of their in-depth medical training homeopaths are able to diagnose, refer and treat all health conditions that a general practitioner can- the only difference is that we use natural medications as opposed to conventional medications.

Are There Religious Limitations to Homeopathy?
The wonderful thing about homeopathic remedies is that we can adjust the vehicle used to administer the remedies. For patients who follow Judaism and Islam, we typically use alcohol-free products and avoid any remedies prepared from animal origin. During fasting we can also adjust the strength and frequency of taking the remedies in order to prevent any interruption of the fasting during the day.

What Happens in a Homeopathic Consult?
The first consult ranges between 60-90 minutes long and includes a thorough case taking, diagnostic examination, possible referral for blood tests and administration of homeopathic medications, supplements, and/or dietary and lifestyle changes.
A follow-up consultation ranges between 30-45 minutes in length and is important to assess your treatment progress. In this consult we will evaluate if there has been an improvement in your symptoms and either adjust your treatment protocol or continue with it.
Is There Scientific Evidence That Homeopathy Works?
There are plenty of research articles and papers available which have demonstrated the ability for homeopathic remedies to work. These studies range from in vitro lab studies to clinical trials. You can easily access the available research via:
